Cemetery Committee

 

The Cemetery Committee oversees the upkeep and maintenance of St. Anthony Cemetery, located on Erie Road between Secor and Douglas.

Meetings:  As needed.


 

General Information

  •  NO DISCOUNT FOR CASH – PERPETUAL UP-KEEP INCLUDED IN PRICE OF LOT.

  •  LOTS MAY NOT BE RE-SOLD BY CURRENT OWNER.  UNWANTED LOTS MAY BE SOLD BACK TO ST. ANTHONY CHURCH FOR THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE.

 

  • The cost of purchasing a grave is:

         $500.00 per grave in the old section

          $650.00 per grave in the new section

          $200.00 for an infant grave (in the designated infant section)

  • Opening/closing of graves, payable at the time of death (includes perpetual care fund):  $700.00 for full size grave (Mon – Fri.);  $850.00 (Sat., Sun., Holidays)      $200.00 for infant grave

         $160 for burial of Cremains (Mon. – Fri.);  $210.00 (Sat., Sun., Holidays)

  • Foundation Fees for Markers - Payable to St. Anthony Church

  1. $60.00 per square foot

  2. $50.00 for Military Markers

For a Funeral Mass:

  • Organist fee:  $150.00 Check payable to: Eric Hite

  • Offering to the Priest:  at the discretion of the family (Make checks payable to Fr. Robert Slaton)

  • Offering to the Church:  at the discretion of the family

  • Altar Servers are gratis (check with the office to see who will be serving). 

  • For non-Parish members, a $100.00 donation should be made out to St. Anthony’s for the use of the church.

Please note:  All fees, with the exception of the purchase of the grave and Foundation Fees, should be collected by the funeral home prior to the funeral.

         Exception:  Per Eric Urbanski, October 3, 2011, Bedford Chapel will NOT collect fees for opening/closing. Fees to be paid to the Parish Office.

Other notes:

  • The Vigil (Wake) held at the funeral home must be a Scripture Service.  If the family would like a Rosary, it may be prayed after the Scripture Service.

 

  • Eulogies are not permitted in Church (during Mass or Funeral Rite outside of Mass).  Eulogies or remarks may be given after the Vigil Service, at the Committal, or at the luncheon.

 

  • Visiting priests may concelebrate at a funeral with my permission.  Please have the family contact me to make arrangements.

 

  • If the funeral is at another church or there is no funeral and there will be a burial at St. Anthony Cemetery, please contact the Parish Office to confirm the availability of the Sexton before setting any burial dates.

 

  • Only the official Catholic Committal Rite is to be used at the Cemetery.  A priest, deacon, or layman (such as the funeral director) is permitted to say the prayers.

St. Anthony Cemetery

St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery Conditions and Limitations: 

 

 

  •  The said lot(s) shall be used only as a place of burial for human remains and for no other purpose.   

  • No interments shall take place in St. Anthony Cemetery, except by the sexton of St. Anthony Church, or his designate.

  •  No interment shall be allowed in said lot of any person not a member of the family without the written consent of the name stated on the certificate of burial. 

  •  The Church retains the right to refuse Christian burial to any individual who is so barred by Church and Canon Law.

  • Private reselling of plots is not permitted; any unwanted plots may be sold back to the Parish for the original purchase price.
     

 

All markers and monuments are subject to prior approval.  A blueprint of the Marker/Monument must be submitted to the Parish Office for review and approval, prior to ordering.

 

  • A cross must appear on each memorial and be the prominent image, (top center placement).

  • Any other images must be sacred images

  • Only Sacred Scripture, or a quote from a Saint are permitted for inscriptions.

  • Any image or inscription considered by the Cemetery Committee to be offensive or in violation of the dignified and reverent nature of the cemetery grounds will not be permitted

  • All monuments/markers must be within the following dimensions:
     

For single grave markers: ———— not to exceed 36” wide, 12” deep, 36 “ high

For double grave markers: ———-  not to exceed 48“ wide, 12” deep, 36 “ high

 

  •  Placing and erection of monuments or foundations, planting of trees and shrubbery, placing of fences or anything of a permanent nature is not permitted.

  •  No objects may be “glued” to any headstone.

  •  Nothing should be placed on the grave which would make the upkeep of the cemetery difficult or impossible.

St. Anthony Cemetery Committee

 

  •  One of the following decorations is permitted per grave:
    — One eternal light; or
    — one cemetery cone with plants or flowers, real or artificial
    (permitted Easter – Thanksgiving only); or
    —  a grave blanket or pillow (permitted Thanksgiving – April 1 only); or
    — one arrangement affixed with a headstone saddle, permitted year round.

  • Cones or vases integral to the headstone design and permanently attached to the base are permitted; (No objects may be “glued” to any headstone.)

  • A single American flag and/or VFW military marker is also permitted.

  • Funeral Flowers are to be removed by the family no later than 3 days after the funeral.

  • Decorations which do not conform to the above specifications will be removed.

  • Please place all refuse in the containers provided.

  • Please close the Cemetery gate when leaving.

     

 St. Anthony Catholic Church reserves the right to remove any decoration not in compliance with the stated rules and regulations or otherwise deemed not appropriate.
