PARISH COUNCIL

"The Parish Council is a consultative body to the Pastor and the coordinating and unifying structure of the Parish communion. Its basic purpose is to set the broad direction for the Parish. It safeguards and promotes the unity of the Parish family. The Council gathers together the visions, hopes and needs of the communion, reflects upon them until a consensus is reached, and translates this consensus into Parish planning through the establishment of goals and objectives. The Council sees that these goals and objectives are implemented by the Parish Commissions and committees and are evaluated annually." (Parish Pastoral Council Guidelines and Hand book, Archdiocese of Detroit)

STEWARDSHIP COMMISSION

"The Stewardship Commission is a service group to the Parish Pastoral Council, and to the other Commissions of the Council. It plans, recommends, and, with Council approval, implements actions on Parish financial support and the effective management and use of Parish resources. These resources include parishioner's time, skills and talents and monies that are raised or offered." (Parish Pastoral Council Guidelines and Hand book, Archdiocese of Detroit)

WORSHIP COMMISSION

The Worship Commission coordinates liturgical celebrations for all seasonal and special feasts and oversees the preparation and scheduling of all liturgical ministers in the parish. In addition, the commission provides continuing education opportunities for the parish such as lector workshops, Eucharistic Minister training and bible studies.

MILLENIUM PRAYER

"Gracious Cod, in giving us Jesus, You have forever changed our human destiny. Through Christ's birth, preaching, and healing, You show us how to live as Your sons and daughters. By Christ's death and resurrection, You breathe new hope within us, reconciling and renewing us. Heal us of our brokenness, so that as one, holy people, we might be a light to the nations, bringing Your peace to the world, preparing us for the return of Your son who lives and reign with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen."

EDUCATION COMMISSION

"The Education Commission helps all parishioners understand that the entire Parish communion has responsibility for promoting the reaching mission of the Church. The Commission has the responsibility of developing, promoting, and evaluating programs in cooperation with the Archdiocesan and Parish staffs." (Parish Pastoral Council Guidelines and Hand book, Archdiocese of Detroit) The Education Commission addresses such needs as Adult Faith Formation, Youth Catechism, and Family Life.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE

The Christian Service Commission is dedicated to the ministry of serving the people of our St. Anthony family and surrounding community. Outreach programs include:

PARISH NURSE MINISTRY

The Parish Nurses work to assist the parishioners in their efforts to attain healthy lifestyles. The Parish Nurse is a provider of health promotion and disease prevention services in the faith community. A Parish Nurse empowers individuals to manage their own health, mobilizes congregation and community resources, and enhances the spiritual resources of the community.

The Parish Nurse facilitates the healing mission of the Church through the roles of:

RIGHT TO LIFE

The Right To Life group at St. Anthony seeks to support Pro-Life values and to promote awareness among parishioners of Pro-Life activities. This group sponsors an annual Mother's Day Flower Sale and a Mother-Daughter Breakfast.

PTG

The Parent-Teacher Guild is a group of parents working in conjunction with teachers and administration to enhance the education and learning environment of the children of St. Anthony School. The purpose of the group is to provide teacher aides and materials, promote Christian family activities and also to promote school unity and family fellowship.

Children and their families may participate in a variety of different activities. We sponsor the following functions: a fall family fun night, a teacher appreciation luncheon, grandparents day, ice cream social, academic scholarships, Santa Shop, book fair, fun & field day, our annual auction, a roller skating party, and much more.

The PTG strives to create the best academic environment possible for our children. Each year we listen to the suggestions of the teachers, administration, and parents in order to update learning materials and incorporate the new ideas necessary to achieve our high academic standards.

Our sole fund-raising event is our Auction. We solicit local businesses for items and gift certificates to auction off in a silent and live auction. This has been a most successful event for our school, raising over $92,000 in the past eight years. This money has provided a complete computer room with software and peripherals, a public address system, books, tables & chairs, playground equipment, TVs, VCRs, videos, scholarships, and many, many other items.

The Athletic Boosters meeting follows immediately after the PTG meeting and one group helps the other. Membership for the PTG is simple. Anyone who has a child in St. Anthony School or Preschool is a member. There are no membership fees or dues.

For more information please contact the school office.

ST. ANTHONY CHOIR

The St. Anthony Choir is a group of men and women of various ages who enjoy singing to praise God and want to serve the parish as leaders of song. Membership is open to all of High School age and older. We strive to make the choir a fun experience. Because everyone has jobs and commitments, we have no attendance requirements. Rehearsals are generally every Thursday evening from 7:00 PM until 9 PM. We have no babysitters available but we can make some accommodations for children's activities. The choir usually ministers at the 10 AM Sunday Mass each week. We also perform at the Midnight Mass at Christmas, the Easter Vigil, and at other various Parish celebrations (graduations, Sacraments, ordinations, etc.)

BOOSTERS

The St. Anthony Booster club was formed principally for the assistance and advancement of athletics that are both sponsored by St. Anthony School and supported by St. Anthony Parish. Its members, through volunteering, shall work with school officials and the church hierarchy to achieve a sports program that would be representative of honesty, integrity, and ethical effort. This organization will provide assistance for all student athletes.  Please call the Parish office with questions.

SCOUTS

CHRISTIAN MOTHERS

The Christian Mothers hold bake sales, especially around holy days, in order to provide funds to procure items needed for the sanctuary of the Parish.

HELPING HAND

This organization provides lunches for mourners after all the funerals at St. Anthony. Smiling faces, good food and fellowship help to ease the pain of loss. These kind people are always there when you need them most.

CEMETERY COMMITTEE

The Cemetery Committee oversees the upkeep and maintenance of St. Anthony Cemetery. (Please see the Cemetery link on home page)

SENIOR CITIZENS

The Senior Citizens meet on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month at 11:30 A.M. There is a potluck meal and afterwards there are card games (with prizes). The main point of the meetings is to HAVE FUN! There are no dues for this committee. Please call the Parish office with questions.
