In Grade Seven, students will. . .

 

RELIGION:

·          Know that Jesus is fully human and fully divine

·          Know major divisions, events, places, people and teachings of the New Testament

·          Study the Gospels in depth: the life, teachings, miracles, and make daily living applications

·          Develop personal and social consciences; develop strong, realistic self-concepts through exploration of who they are and who they can become

·          Know the Cardinal and Theological virtues

·          Know the Beatitudes and Works of Mercy and make practical applications to daily life

·          Memorize assigned prayers, commandments etc.

·          Understand that the values of the Church and of society often oppose each other

·          Know the various parts of the Mass and participate by selecting the readings and songs, composing the petitions

·          Be familiar with and able to participate in the Liturgy of the Hours

LANGUAGE ARTS

Students will

·          Enjoy reading, listening to, writing about, reporting on books both in writing and orally

·          Recognize and appreciate elements of literature: plot, setting, theme, etc.

·          Construct paragraphs, essays, outlines, reports

·          Interpret texts using inferences and background knowledge

·          Use research reference materials and resources -  including Internet

·          Writing and presenting research paper

·          Demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary, spelling, grammar mechanics, and usage both  orally and in  writing

·          Use the writing process in expository, narrative, descriptive, persuasive and poetic modes
