In Grade Seven, students will. . .

 

RELIGION:

·          Know that Jesus is fully human and fully divine

·          Know major divisions, events, places, people and teachings of the New Testament

·          Study the Gospels in depth: the life, teachings, miracles, and make daily living applications

·          Develop personal and social consciences; develop strong, realistic self-concepts through exploration of who they are and who they can become

·          Know the Cardinal and Theological virtues

·          Know the Beatitudes and Works of Mercy and make practical applications to daily life

·          Memorize assigned prayers, commandments etc.

·          Understand that the values of the Church and of society often oppose each other

·          Know the various parts of the Mass and participate by selecting the readings and songs, composing the petitions

·          Be familiar with and able to participate in the Liturgy of the Hours

LANGUAGE ARTS

Students will

·          Enjoy reading, listening to, writing about, reporting on books both in writing and orally

·          Recognize and appreciate elements of literature: plot, setting, theme, etc.

·          Construct paragraphs, essays, outlines, reports

·          Interpret texts using inferences and background knowledge

·          Use research reference materials and resources -  including Internet

·          Writing and presenting research paper

·          Demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary, spelling, grammar mechanics, and usage both  orally and in  writing

·          Use the writing process in expository, narrative, descriptive, persuasive and poetic modes

·          Add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions, and compare and order fractions, decimals, and percents

·          Identify fractions, decimals and percents as equivalent and use them in solving problems

·          Know and understand prime factorization, GCF and LCM, and use them to solve problems

·          Solve linear equations and inequalities

TECHNOLOGY BENCHMARKS

·          Maintain Keyboarding skills

·          25 words at 90% accuracy

·          Use pre-existing Databases to collect research

·          Develop a report using Desktop Publishing according to course expectations

·          Use Multimedia Resources as an information gathering tool for Organization, Arranging, Storage of information

·          Develop a Spreadsheet  using: Cell, Row, Column and Number Formats

·          Learn and model ethical, legal and responsible behavior in the online community

·          Apply technologies to Interpret, Analyze, Synthesize and Evaluate Data Information
